"Cultivating Peace: Agriculture in a World of Conflict and Violence"

Participants in the 2006 AIARD Annual Meeting will gain insights into past, current, and potential future strategies on the role of international agricultural and rural development in protecting and achieving peace in a world characterized by conflict and violence. We will explore and discuss the experiences and practices of a wide range of development professionals, who work for public and private organizations in environments affected by war and civil unrest. The objective of the annual meeting program is to identify policy implications of effective "conflict-sensitive development" through agricultural and rural development activities and interventions.
