Zachary Rothschild is the Eurasian Regional Affairs Officer at the Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of State. Prior to joining the State department, Rothschild served as a technical advisor to USAID's Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation on youth, education, and conflict and extremism for two years. He advised USAID field missions on youth programming in many overseas missions, including Bangladesh, the Philippines, Liberia, Russia, and Serbia.

He helped design, as part of a larger team at USAID, an tool to conduct education assessments in fragile states, and co-authored a USAID toolkit on the nexus between youth and conflict. Prior to government service, Rothschild earned a Masters in Foreign Service, specializing in Conflict Management, at Georgetown University. He worked in Kosovo for over two years following the end of NATO's bombing campaign in 1999, managing a school reconstruction project for Mercy Corps and later coordinating civil society development projects for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
